Cardiff Ramblers

Cerddwyr Caerdydd

WALKS PROGRAMME: We no longer post a printed programme to members. Please see the Walks Programme page for the latest walks programme.

We currently produce a programme every six months (summer / winter). This may become out of date due to the inevitable late changes. For up-to-date information see the Walks Programme page on this site.

Cardiff Ramblers aim to hold 7 - 8 walks each week, with a variety of lengths to suit all abilities. Ramblers members from all groups are welcome to join us, and our members are entitled to walk with any other Ramblers group.

Non-members are invited to try two or three walks to give it a try before, hopefully, deciding to join the Ramblers. If you are thinking of giving it a go, pick a relatively easy walk, please phone the leader in advance to check conditions, wear footwear suitable for the conditions, and clothing to suit the Welsh weather. Bring lunch if expecting to be out into the afternoon (allow 2 miles per hour to calculate expected duration). Further information for anyone thinking of walking with us is available on the "Join Us" page.

Generally we have about four different walks every Wednesday, of different lengths and grades.

There are shorter strolls every Friday, usually meeting at Cardiff Central Square, opposite M&S Food Store.

Walks on Saturdays may vary in length, grade and meeting point.

Generally a longer walk on Sundays.

In the summer months we have shorter walks (3 - 5 miles) on Thursday evenings, meeting at the start point early evening.

Remember to wear appropriate footwear and clothing and to bring enough food and drink for coffee, lunch and tea breaks on full day walks.

Walkers also need to carry In Case of Emergency information – this might be on a card, key fob or on their smartphone - giving details of name, address and who to contact in an emergency.

 Group local grading system: D - <500ft (150m) of ascent; C - 500-1200ft (150-350m) of ascent; B - 1200-2000ft (350-600m) of ascent; A - over 2000ft (600m), A+ over 3000ft (900m) of ascent.
