[1] From the church walk into Walston Road and turn left into Clos Llanfair. Walk to the end, then through a kissing gate, forward to the road and turn right to follow Burdons Close. Look for a path on the right near the end of the road just before the second to last house. Follow the path round to the left, then up steps into a field.

[2] Walk across the field just to the left of the electricity pylon and go through a stile in the far-right corner to reach Burdonshill Lane. Turn right and walk up the hill passing houses on both sides to reach a kissing gate ahead leading onto Wenvoe Golf course.

[3] Turn right and keep to the right-hand edge of the fairway for 250m, then at waymark post, turn right to go down into Goldland Wood. Follow the path around to the left to reach a kissing gate which leads into a small field. Turn left and follow the hedge to a cross track. Go right up the track and then left through an opening into a large field.

[4] With the hedge on the left walk to the next stile and gate, then follow the edge of Goldland Wood to a further stile and gate. Cross the stile and cross the field to the right hand corner to go through a gate and then forward to a kissing gate, and then another gate ahead, then another into into Maes y Felin farmyard. Walk through the farmyard and across the driveway to go through a kissing gate ahead into a field in which are the St. Lythan’s neolithic burial ground standing stones. Turn right in front of these to reach a kissing gate which leads to the road. Turn left at the road and walk to a T-junction in 150m where you turn right, signposted Dyffryn Gardens.

[5] Walk for 800m, passing a blocked gate on the left, and later North Lodge, the entrance to Dyffryn Gardens. Ignore the footpath opposite North Lodge, but in 120m find a stile on the right. Cross the stile and in 5 metres walk diagonally left and up until you can see Wenvoe TV mast. Go through a gap in the top left corner of the field and head straight to another gap. Continue along the hedge on the right to another gap ahead and then to a broken stile. Go past the stile and pass an electricity pylon on your right walking towards the TV mast.

[6] At the corner of the field, carry on ahead through a gap into a shallow wooded hollow and then up a slight rise to reach a small metal gate. Before the gate, turn right and follow the path through Coed Nant Bran wood and in 500m reach a stile and gate. Cross the stile and follow the hedge on the left to reach Lodge House farm. Go over the stile ahead on the left, turn right and follow the hedge to cross a pair of stiles, then turn sharp right to a stile onto the road. Go right onto the long driveway (a public right of way) and walk south to the road. Cross the road and go through a kissing gate. Walk ahead with the hedge on the right to a metal gate, through this and ahead to the corner of the field. Ignore the gate and stile in the corner and turn left and follow the hedge to reach a lane via a gate/stile exit from field.

[7] In the lane turn left, walk along the clear path through Wenvoe Wood for 350m to reach a gate/stile which leads into a field with a house to the right. Continue ahead to a kissing gate in the right-hand corner of the field, go through this and slightly left across the track to pass a broken stile leading into a wood. Follow the short path through the wood to a stile. Cross the stile and go ahead across a field following, and to the left of, electricity lines to go over another stile. Go straight ahead across the track to take a narrow path going right, left, right, then sharp left before outbuildings. Follow the path along and then down past Whitehall Quarry via stone steps to a lane and turn right to Walston Road. Turn right and walk along Walston Road for 800m back to St Mary’s Church.
